Deep Water

Deep Water

Tamás Fekete

For Dominik, swimming is a passion ; For his mother, it is the promise of a future for his son. Until they learn that Dominik may have to give up on becoming a professional swimmer. What options are available to them now ?

By its raw editing, this poignant movie is bringing us, with nervousness and compassion, at the heart of a crisis. Gábor Osváth is closely filming his two protagonists, almost impudently, but always with dignity. His camera follows the daily life of this combative mother and this little boy who will soon no longer be one, whose body is changing at the same time he has to give up on his dreams. A portrait of the end of a childhood, which raw and tender sobriety reminds us of Doillon.
