Saudade

Saudade

Denize Galiao

“Saudade was created by the African gods so that enslaved people would not forget their loved ones and where they came from. Confronted with her father’s illness, she needs to make a decision whether to return to her parents’ home and meet the memories of her childhood or stay in the life she has built with her siblings. Denize broadens the meaning of the word saudade – melancholy, nostalgia, homesickness – in this documentary about a family living between two worlds. (Eustàcia Soares)
