Calling you

Calling you

Hitomi Ohtakara

This is the first letter addressed to you. A voyage to trace the vague images of memories.

Calling you, works on the memory with the plastic variation of the representation material. It’s by degrading the image, capturing organic sounds and by working on the texture of the objects, that the director tries to resurrect the memory through an intimate exploration and physical sensations. Her movie overflows with a generous creativity, playful and colorful, that brings us back to our kindergarten tables, and answers to the emptiness of the absence, with the profusion of a living world : the drawings, the photos, the boogie hits, the objects are coming alive in an imaginary where things of the every day life and the nostalgia of the pictures participate in redrafting the features of a washed-out portrait ; to rekindle its pigments but also its grey areas.
